Locked out of beaches in Tahoe
Tahoe

We were a bit tired and didn't get up very early and there was general lethargy when we did get going. We got some breakfast at the local Denny's, I had steak and eggs. We did a bit of shopping then headed back to the hotel for a bit.

We are within spitting distance of the Nevada border depending on what direction you turn at the end of the road depends on which state you are in Nevada on the left California on the right. This means there is a cluster of casinos up the road. Universally when we said we were going to Tahoe the next question was “are you going to gamble?” which always seems odd, but then I guess when you can wander into Ladbrokes on any high street and a casinos in a lot of towns gambling doesn't have as much allure as it would do if it was banned.

We had a walk up to the small shop area above us and checked out the gondolier up to Heavenly. Heavenly is a ski resort and this area is a very active ski resort in the winter most of the accommodation in the are is vacant at the moment. Most of it conforms to log cabin imitation and ours is no different. We got to the gondolier and decided we needed the full day to make the most of it so headed back to the hotel. We had the intention of popping out later to take some sunset shots of the lake from the private beach the hotel gave us access to.

We slightly misjudged the time and missed sunset by seconds so had to settle for receding glow of the sun over the mountains. In addition there was no one at the beach who could let us in so we had to stay outside the huge fence poking cameras through which wasn't ideal.

We returned to the hotel to rest up for an early start the next day.
