Story about some backpacker American students who head into eastern Europe and get into trouble. Takes a while to get going, fairly gruesome in parts later on in the film.
Basically the film starts with 2 American Backpackers and Friend (who I think was from Iceland) having a good time in Amsterdam they get kicked out of a club after getting into a fight and are too late back to their hostel to get in and end up crashing in some guy, called Alexei's room/place. They talk of their trips purpose (girls) and this bloke convinces them, with the aid of photographic evidence, they should travel to [Slovakia]. They promptly jump on the next train headed in that direction.
After this they arrive at the hostel and find them selves sharing a room with some lovely young ladies who don't mind wandering around with nothing on. Anyway the 3 tourist enjoy the local "scenery" and local clubs and pubs.
So things go seemingly well for a bit they have too much to drink enjoy their room mates and generally have a good time. Then one by one they start to go missing, subtly at first where they are not sure if one of their number just moved on maybe with a girl they met. Eventually one of the Americans wakes up tied to a chair in a room full of surgical instruments and power tools, and then well lets just say he doesn't go backpacking anymore.
To be honest I found it tough to care what happened to the characters since I really didn't like any of them, having them disappear possibly hacked up in some where in eastern Europe seemed the best thing for all concerned.
The film claims some affiliation with Quentin Tarentino though apart from showing a clip from one of his films on a tv dubbed into an eastern European language I can't see what influence he had, maybe he just bank rolled it. Fans of Mr Tarentino's work going to see it expecting one of his films will be fairly disappointed. It's not really that scary, it's the sort of thing you might worry about if holidaying off the beaten track in a country you don't speak the language if wandering down some dark alleys. It has some moments of laughter, well I laughed occasionally but then I'm a sick puppy. If you really like your ultra realistically gory horror flicks, or if you just like seeing American backpackers get cut up with chainsaws then this is the film for you.
